You might start coming to Jaya because you want to feel stronger, move more comfortably, or have an hour in your week just for you. As you settle into a regular practice, you may notice other changes, too. You become more comfortable asking a question. You try something you once assumed wasn’t for you. You learn when to challenge yourself and when to take a different approach.
Then a familiar face becomes someone you look forward to seeing. You sign up for a workshop, bring a friend to class, or find yourself learning Mahjong with people you met on a yoga mat. Being part of something can make it a little easier to try something else.
Getting to know yourself
Yoga and Pilates give us opportunities to build strength, flexibility, balance, and confidence in how we move. They also give us time to pay attention. How am I feeling today? What do I need? Can I try this a different way?
Some days, you have the energy to challenge yourself. Other days, taking a gentler option is the most useful thing you can do. Learning to recognize that difference is part of the practice.
So is being willing to begin again, ask for help, or let go of how you thought something was supposed to look. We get to practice patience, adaptability, and being a little kinder to ourselves while we learn.
Over time, those lessons can become useful well beyond class.
Familiar faces, new experiences
Walking into a new place can feel intimidating. One of my favorite things about Jaya is watching a regular student introduce themselves to someone who has just arrived. It happens without any prompting from me.
Those small welcomes matter. As people get to know each other, trying something new can feel a little more comfortable. You might come to an outdoor class because someone mentioned it after Pilates. You might stay for a meal or sign up for Mahjong because you know a few people who are going.
Our community events are open to the public, and you’re welcome to come without knowing anyone. But sometimes that familiar connection is what helps us take the first step.
There’s room to participate in whatever way suits you. Come for your quiet hour, stay for a conversation, or join us for something new when it interests you.
A few extras for your practice
Our 8-class, 12-class, and Unlimited monthly memberships include opportunities to explore beyond your usual classes:
One complimentary guest pass each month, so you can share a class with a friend. Passes expire monthly and don’t roll over.
Seasonal classes at Camelot on the Lawn and the Dock at Lake Winola, when offered, so your practice can come outside with you.
Pose Lab, our quarterly member workshop. We warm up together, then spend time on your questions and the poses or modifications you’d like help exploring. You don’t need to be working toward an advanced pose—sometimes you simply want a familiar movement to make more sense.
Special member classes and gatherings, including experiences like Sleigh the Stress, our holiday restorative class followed by a hot chocolate bar. That evening was my gift to our members: a little time to rest and enjoy being together.
These are different ways to learn, share your practice, and make time for yourself throughout the year.
Jaya Loves Local
That sense of connection extends into the community around us.Through Jaya Loves Local, our Unlimited members receive exclusive perks from participating local businesses and organizations. I’m grateful to these partners for offering something extra to our members, and I’m happy to introduce our community to theirs.
Our partners include:
The Nyx — a local spot for a meal and time together in Clarks Summit.
Maximum Zen — the plant-based café and bakery right at the front of Jaya.
La Chic Boutique by Kim — a locally owned clothing boutique in Clarks Summit.
Indraloka Animal Sanctuary — a sanctuary in Dalton offering opportunities to connect with animals and learn about compassionate care.
Eternal Esthetics Studio — a local studio offering facial, waxing, and lash services.
Each brings something different to our area. This program gives members a reason to discover a new place, revisit a favorite, and get to know more of the people behind our local community.
Jaya Loves Local is growing, and I look forward to welcoming additional partners. You can find the latest participating partners, offers, and redemption details on our Member Perks page.
What you take with you
The value of a regular practice can show up in small ways: feeling more confident in your balance, recognizing when you need a pause, asking a question you once would have kept to yourself. It can also show up in the people you meet and the experiences you become open to having. It’s one of the things I enjoy most about watching this community grow. People arrive with their own reasons for being here, and they keep discovering what Jaya can mean to them.
An hour for yourself can become a meaningful part of your week. And sometimes, it opens the door to something you hadn’t expected.
