Outdoor Yoga in NEPA: Jaya Yoga’s Summer Series
Yoga on the Dock at Lake Winola as part of Jaya Yoga Studio’s Outdoor Summer Series in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Jaya Yoga’s Outdoor Summer Series in Northeastern Pennsylvania
There’s something about summer in Northeastern Pennsylvania that makes us all want to get outside a little more. Longer days. Warm sunsets. Fresh air. Bare feet in the grass. Time on the water. Community gathering together after a long winter season.
At Jaya Yoga Studio, outdoor yoga has become one of the most meaningful parts of our summer season, not just because it’s beautiful (though it absolutely is), but because practicing outside changes the entire experience.
The sounds are different. The energy is different. The breath feels different.
And honestly? We’re incredibly lucky to have such amazing community partners throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania that allow us to bring yoga, Pilates, movement, and mindfulness into some truly unforgettable spaces.
Yoga + Pilates on the Lawn at Camelot
Since 2020, we’ve been offering yoga and Pilates classes on the lawn at Camelot Restaurant and Inn, and it has become one of our favorite summer traditions.
The setting is kind of perfect: rolling green lawn, incredible views, fresh air, and one of the best outdoor patios around. The Camelot staff is always welcoming, the food is amazing, and the entire property feels like a mini summer escape tucked right here in NEPA.
This season, we’re especially excited for our sunrise classes because the morning view out there is unreal and we can’t wait for more happy hour and sunset classes as the summer unfolds.
There’s something really special about moving your body outside while the sun rises over the mountains or sets behind the trees. It reminds you to slow down a little.
Aqua Yoga at Glen Oak Country Club
One of our most unique offerings each summer is Aqua Yoga at Glen Oak Country Club. We first launched Aqua Yoga back in 2018, and every year people fall in love with it all over again.
Yoga in the pool is refreshing, playful, surprisingly grounding, and incredibly accessible. Because the water helps support the body, Aqua Yoga can be especially beneficial for those with mobility concerns, joint pain, injuries, or anyone looking for a lower-impact movement practice.
The resistance of the water also helps build strength and stability while reducing stress on the joints and it just feels really good to move in the water on a hot summer day.
It’s one of those classes that makes people smile the entire time.
Yoga on the Dock at Lake Winola
In 2024, we were lucky enough to begin offering Yoga on the Dock at Lake Winola in partnership with the Lake Winola Cottagers Association, and it quickly became one of the most peaceful experiences of our summer season.
Sky above. Water below. Gentle movement. Sunset over the lake. There’s just something deeply calming about practicing near water. The sounds, the breeze, the reflections across the lake — it naturally invites you to slow down and breathe a little deeper.
Yoga on the Dock returns June 3rd and continues every other Wednesday throughout the summer, with a few pop-up classes sprinkled in too.
What makes outdoor yoga so unforgettable is that no two classes are ever the same. Eagles overhead at the lake, ducks drifting by, bunnies in the grass, even the surprise of new life unfolding nearby (we may have seen a baby deer be born), it all becomes part of the experience. It’s a living soundtrack you can’t recreate indoors, and it only exists in that exact moment, with those exact people, in that exact place.
Paddleboard Yoga Adventures
For those looking for something a little more adventurous, we also offer paddleboard yoga experiences throughout the summer season. Rather than scheduled public classes, paddleboard yoga is available by private group booking. We can travel to your group or coordinate a specific date and location on a public lake for your event, gathering, or summer outing.
It’s fun, challenging, peaceful, and guaranteed to create a few laughs along the way.
And yes, falling in is always part of the adventure.
14 Years of Yoga on the Roof in Scranton
Every summer, one event stands out as truly unforgettable: Yoga on the Roof in Scranton.
Held atop the Electric City Roof at The Marketplace at Steamtown, Yoga on the Roof combines movement, live music, community, and charity in one incredible evening overlooking downtown Scranton.
This year marks our 14th annual event, and somehow it still feels just as magical as the very first one. Three musicians from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic perform live throughout class, creating an atmosphere that honestly feels hard to put into words. We lovingly call it “Christmas in July” because it’s one of those events people look forward to all year long.
Even more meaningful: every dollar raised goes directly to support the NEPA Philharmonic. It’s one of our favorite examples of what can happen when art, movement, music, and community all come together in one place.
Why Summer Feels Different at Jaya
After 15 years in business, one of the things we’re most grateful for is the ability to continue creating experiences that help people connect, to themselves, to nature, and to each other.
Outdoor yoga has a way of turning movement into an experience. You’re not just checking a workout off a list, you’re watching the sunset over the lake, listening to live music on a rooftop, moving with the breeze, and sharing it all with community. Summer in NEPA is pretty special. And we’re excited to spend it outside with you.
If you’d like to explore classes, pop-ups, events, or outdoor offerings this season, you can find the latest schedule and updates on our website and on social media throughout the summer.
